Increased Security Measures in Jammu and Kashmir

To maintain peace in Jammu and Kashmir, security forces have intensified their surveillance across the region. The military is on high alert to thwart any potential terrorist activities. Recently, a suspicious drone was reported flying over Samba in Jammu and Kashmir.

Authorities confirmed that a Pakistani drone was spotted hovering over significant installations in Samba district, prompting an immediate search operation. This information was disclosed by officials on Saturday.

The drone was detected around 9:35 PM on Friday night, flying at an altitude exceeding 700 meters from west to east over the Bari Brahmana military camp. An alert was promptly issued, and rapid response teams from the army were activated. Police were also notified, leading to a joint search operation to ensure that no weapons or narcotics were dropped from the drone.

Controversy Surrounds Renovation at Hazratbal Mosque

In a separate incident, a significant controversy erupted at the renowned Hazratbal Mosque in Srinagar over the installation of a national emblem on a renovation plaque. This action sparked outrage among local leaders and worshippers, leading to the vandalism of the plaque by unidentified individuals. In response, Drakshana Andrabi, the chairperson of the Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board, has called for legal action against those responsible under the Public Safety Act (PSA). This incident occurred following recent renovations at the mosque, which houses sacred relics of Prophet Muhammad.

The stone plaque inside the mosque bore the national emblem, which drew criticism from the Muslim community. Political leaders, including those from the ruling National Conference (NC), argued that displaying such symbols in a place of worship violates the Islamic principle of monotheism, which strictly prohibits idol worship. Following the Friday congregational prayers, the plaque was destroyed by unknown individuals who removed the national emblem.

Clearly upset by this act, Andrabi held a press conference at the mosque, labeling the perpetrators as terrorists and thugs. She demanded that a First Information Report (FIR) be filed and that charges be brought against the offenders under the PSA, a stringent law that allows for detention without trial for up to two years.
